Overview

This is a structural engineering opportunity that will provide swift career progression and work on national and international projects. Our client is a leading, independently owned European consultancy, they are long established in the UK and highly regarded for their building structures and heavy civil engineering expertise. They have recently been awarded several major design projects and are looking for a structural engineer who can progress swiftly as they expand and implement succession plans. You will work directly for an associate who will provide invaluable mentoring and on the job training. Your role will focus on the structural design of permanent and temporary works, predominantly for building structures, plus input on civil engineering structures. Their live projects are numerous, with a focus on high value schemes, current examples include a development in Saudi Arabia of ten 22 storey residential towers, four 10 storey office buildings and associated facilities, a mixed-use multi-storey development in London with basement levels, and a new school project.

Their London office is long established, and they have decades of expertise focused on building and heavy civil engineering structures. They have a reputation for engineering excellence and as a high quality employer with low staff turnover. Project exposure is varied, encompassing UK and international work. Their working culture is collaborative and supportive, new recruits will receive training and mentoring and have options for career progression. The vacancy is the result of long term work, the award of major projects and planned expansion.

Your Role: Working alongside an associate you will be involved in the design and delivery of predominantly RC and steel structures. This will include superstructures for buildings and temporary structures for projects typically valued between £10m – £100m. Your career progression forms part of their long term succession planning, you will be given insight and input on the whole design process from client advisory stages, through to completion, and you will receive invaluable, practical  on the job training. You will be using TEKLA and SCIA for structural design and analysis.

Your Profile: You will need a commitment to learning and the ambition to advance your career. You should be a degree qualified civil or structural engineer and ideally a graduate member of the ICE, IStructE or an equivalent body. RC and steel design experience is essential, as is knowledge of using industry standard design and analysis software. Good interpersonal and teamworking skills are vital.

Training: The company provides IStructE and ICE approved training, you will receive the right project exposure and support to become incorporated or chartered swiftly. There are regular CPD activities and you will be working closely with highly experienced chartered civil and chartered structural engineers, they will impart their knowledge and provide guidance.
