Overview

Our client, a leading civil and structural consultancy employs over two hundred technical staff in the UK and overseas. Their London office is currently engaged on projects across the UK. However most of their current business is focused on the London commercial and residential market. They are working with some of the most active developers in this sector on several of the capital’s largest schemes. The projects are predominantly in the West End and the City of London. The temporary works element of these projects is substantial, complex and highly challenging.  They include a number of the taller buildings under construction in London, sites are typically situated in sensitive and congested locations. Their work covers, façade retention, tower crane supports, construction gantries and basement retention.

Their permanent works division is also growing, enabling the successful candidate to widen his/her expertise. This is an opportunity for a degree qualified engineer who is chartered, or nearing chartered status, with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE). You should have had some exposure to designing temporary works within a consulting or contracting environment. Working alongside an associate there will be regular liaison with contractors, developers and your clients site based project managers. Duties will include management of detail design, supervision of junior engineers and technicians, conceptual and hands-on design.
