New Year Update from Lethaby & Cook
Lethaby and Cook are, after a hectic December, up and raring to go into 2019 and face the challenges ahead, with pivotal decisions at government level to be decided (we hope) by the end of March.
There is little doubt that political and economic uncertainty has affected some contracts commencing and therefore halted some aspects of our clients recruiting, but on the whole, our respective industries appear relatively buoyant.
Mechanical & Electrical
2018 was another busy year for our M&E arm of the business, with numerous projects in the commercial, public and residential sectors, keeping us busy and allowing us to maintain our regular contract staff as well as working on several permanent placements at engineering and management level.
However, vigilance is the key to success and on a less positive note, because of the high profile collapse of Carillion and uncertainty hanging over other public services contractors; we have also had to walk away from some projects and may well have to continue to do so if the financial situation does not match our requirements.
On the whole, we are well placed to win new work with robust existing clients, as well as establishing new contacts in the industry who will gain from our experience.
Civil & Structural Engineering
The Civil and Structural Engineering sector also remained buoyant in 2018, with Paul Cook continuing to use all of his 25 years’ experience in the industry to expand this area of the business.
Paul has been successful in establishing relationships with many reputable clients and candidates in this sector in 2018, assisting with several complex appointments, particularly in the insurance and forensic sector of the industry.
With his knowledge of the Civil and Structures industry, Paul is already working on placements in 2019 and we are expecting grow this area of the business further.
In summary, we are positive about what challenges 2019 will bring to us and we look forward to assisting our clients with our unrivalled combined expertise in our relative sectors.
