An opportunity for a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer to enjoy the rewards of a varied career in the buoyant forensic engineering sector. The position will enable you to apply your existing skills in a new sector that is consistent, well rewarded and intriguing.
Your Role: To establish the cause and origin of structural failures affecting buildings in the commercial, industrial, residential, and transportation sectors. This will involve managing and conducting site investigations into failures affecting superstructures, substructures, and associated civil elements. You will assess the implications of design, construction methods, materials, loadings, environmental factors, and site conditions. You will join a multidisciplinary team of experts drawn from the mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, geotechnical, materials science, environmental, transportation, and fire protection disciplines.

Their experts include civil and structural engineers, architects, and scientists. They have a growing international footprint, undertaking projects across mainland Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. They are especially active in the construction, infrastructure, manufacturing and energy sectors.
Profile Required: A chartered civil ( MICE ) or chartered structural ( MIStructE ) engineer, with at least eight years work experience. A technically focused background gained in building or industrial structures. You will have worked at senior /principal/ associate level. In addition to your design experience you should have carried out some inspections and surveys, and have ideally worked on complex refurbishment projects. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential as you will work closely with owners representatives, insurers, loss adjusters and legal professionals. Your findings—identifying the root cause of failure—will be documented in a report that is accessible to non-technical audiences while also robust enough to withstand legal scrutiny.
