Overview

This new opportunity for a temporary works designer is with a practice that handles heavy civil engineering and building projects. You will provide temporary works leadership as a senior member of their London office which currently employs fifty staff. The opportunity for progression is very promising, a sustained increase in work and succession provides the potential for directorship within one to two years. Your focus will be on major projects typically valued between £10m – 100m. Schemes will encompass commercial, residential, pharmaceutical, industrial, process, bridges and ports & harbours. Project selection will be guided by your technical specialism and will have a buildings bias.

Key Responsibilities: This is a client facing role, there will be regular contact with contractors and developers. You will provide advice at tender stage, carry out scheme design and oversee detailed design phases, ensuring quality standards are adhered to. You will provide support and input on project selection, new business and the mentoring of junior engineers.

They work in the UK and internationally and have amassed a catalogue of successfully completed projects. They are known for their high level of technical expertise and ability to successfully deliver complex schemes. Their business growth is supported by structured staff training and development, including support to achieve chartered status with the ICE and IStructE.

Required Skills: A chartered or incorporated engineer with ten or more years civil / structural experience that includes a significant element of temporary works design.  You should be working at project or senior engineer level, your background should encompass design and delivery. The ability to think laterally and deliver schemes that prove safe and practical for construction is essential.
