Overview

A senior civil engineering project management professional is required by one of the world’s leading insurers. As a construction industry insider, you will be providing advice and leadership on the risks associated with complex, high value civil engineering and building construction projects. Our client is a leading provider of “Construction All Risks Insurance”. The position focuses on projects throughout the UAE and Saudi Arabia, your role will be to help to assess the risks ahead of a decision to provide insurance cover and to track the progress of insured projects.

Your Role: With the job title of “Risk Engineer” , you will report to, and work alongside, a senior risk manager who is a chartered engineer and construction expert. Your role will have an emphasis on tracking projects underway, making site visits at key project milestones. More generally you will be involved in assessing the following areas  of potential risk; Management -weighing up the track record and capabilities of a projects’ management team and their approach to risk. Technical- the design standards that have been adopted, methods of construction and materials being used. Environment- the location of the project, natural perils, ground conditions, geology, political, cultural and security situation. Programme & Budget- Identify high risk phases of work, viability of construction sequencing and comparisons with similar projects.

Profile Required: A degree qualified, and ideally a chartered civil engineer, you will have ten plus years’ experience of major heavy civil engineering or high value building projects, working at project manager / site manager/ senior resident engineer level. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. You be required to forge productive working relationships within a dynamic, multicultural environment, highly developed interpersonal skills are prerequisite.
