An opportunity to apply your civil engineering construction expertise within the insurance sector. This is a role with a leading player, it is focused on high value international civil engineering projects. Our client is looking for a civil engineering industry insider who wants a new career offering variety, advancement and a meaningful change of direction.

Your Role:  You will be providing advice on the risks associated with complex, high value civil engineering projects. There will be an emphasis on highways, tunnels and bridges, you will also offer guidance on energy, industrial and building projects. You will be providing front end advice to underwriters and risk managers and will monitor the progress of insured projects underway.   Your role is to provide the critical practical insight and guidance that only a civil engineering professional can offer. The key areas you will scrutinise can be broken down into; Management -weighing up the track record and capabilities of a projects’ management team and their approach to risk. Technical- the design standards that have been adopted, methods of construction and materials being used. Environment- the location of the project, natural perils, ground conditions, geology, political, cultural and security situation. Programme & Budget- Identify high risk phases of work, viability of construction sequencing and comparisons with similar projects.

Overseas Travel: The international nature of their work means there will be regular overseas travel, typically two short site visits per month.

Your Profile: A chartered civil engineer(or equivalent to)  with at least ten years heavy civil engineering experience. This should ideally have included some involvement on bridge or highways projects. Your background could be in contracting or consulting, providing it includes a good amount of site based experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
