A civil engineer is required by one of the world’s leading forensic engineering consultancies. Their Singapore office is looking for a civil engineer with a breadth of project experience gained in the heavy civil, building structures or infrastructure sectors. You should be a degree qualified engineer with strong technical ability, the ability to think laterally and good communication skills. If you are not yet chartered you should be working towards chartered status with the IES, ICE or an equivalent body. The Company: The firm has a global reputation and presence, it employs engineers and scientists who are experts in their chosen professions. The Singapore office investigates and determines the causes of failures and damage for insurers, loss adjusters, legal firms, police, fire brigades and other official bodies throughout South East Asia. The range of civil & structural engineering work is broad including roads, bridges, buildings, temporary works, port & harbours and tunnels. They are steadily expanding within the region.

The role: Using your accumulated engineering knowledge to investigate the cause of failures that have affected civil engineering and structural assets. You will carry out a survey of the physical after effects of a failure, gather evidence and analyse engineering drawings, in some cases you may take witness statements or have materials laboratory analysed. When required you will obtain advice from in-house and external experts. There will be occasional short visits throughout South East Asia to carry out site investigations. A rigorous training period will ensure you become proficient with forensic industry processes and techniques and how to present your findings. There will be regular report writing and face to face meetings with legal and insurance professionals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, you should ideally be fluent in Mandarin and English, a good first degree from a reputable university is essential.
