Overview

Our client, a leading international forensic consultancy is looking for a chartered engineer with drainage and hydrology expertise. This Associate level appointment offers the opportunity to embark upon a new career in a consistent, profitable and varied sector. You will be joining a team of respected experts drawn directly from industry. Support will be provided to enable you to apply your existing expertise from a forensic investigation perspective.

Duties: Determining the root cause of failures affecting water and hydrological cases, incorporating  flooding, drainage and water ingress. This will include flooding from rivers, the sea, surface water and groundwater, faults in foul and surface water drainage systems, failure of infrastructure, such as pumping stations, reservoirs and canals, and  the effect that new developments have on flood risk to neighbouring properties. Your  work commences with a physical investigation, you will  speak with witnesses, and gather  information that enables you to determine what occurred, and what the root cause was. You will then prepare a report that sets out your findings, this will need to be  comprehensible to people without a technical background, and able to stand scrutiny during claims settlement and legal proceedings.

Your Profile:  A chartered civil engineer (or equivalent)  with at least eight years’ experience. This should have covered topics such as hydraulic modelling, catchment analysis, flood investigation, drainage and flood risk. You should be a  lateral thinker with a talent for problem solving. In addition, you will be a good communicator and capable of producing accurate well written reports.
