Overview

An opportunity to work directly for a client organisation as their in-house civil engineering expert and construction manager. Our client owns, operates and develops an extensive campus that includes comprehensive roads and drainage infrastructure, administration, accommodation, light-industrial and hospitality buildings. They have a continuous programme of capital projects and improvement works to manage. This key appointment will provide a dedicated civil engineering expert to focus on the identification and delivery of projects.

Your Role: You will be involved in a mixture of capital and improvement projects covering civil and building works. This will encompass preparation of design briefs, vetting and appointing contractors and external consultants, and the monitoring of construction activities. You will have responsibility for quality, programming and the management of annual budgets. Routine maintenance is managed by a dedicated team, you will provide some oversite here and technical input when required.

About You: A chartered civil engineer, or equivalent, with project delivery experience. This could have been gained with a consulting practice, contractor, or a client organisation. Familiarity with the NEC 3 form of contract and CDM regulations is highly desirable, as is a high level of commercial awareness. Your background should include a site based element which has given you a practical understanding of the construction process and an appreciation of buildability issues. Strong interpersonal and organisational skills are essential, there will be regular contact with senior management, internal and external stakeholders and your expert advice will regularly be required within the organisation.
