Overview

An opportunity for a structural engineer who is looking for a career with the option to be home based. You will be a key member of seven string team with civil, structural and surveying expertise who diagnose, mitigate and  repair damage to  commercial and domestic properties. Unlike many home based positions in the insurance sector it does not require extensive travel. Working with field based technicians and surveyors you will be able to gather the comprehensive and detailed information required to enable you to establish the extent and type of problem that is being experienced and to prepare a report on your findings, often including advice on remedial measures required.

They are looking for an incorporated or chartered civil or structural engineer. Ideally you will have a design background that includes experience of structural defects. In addition to technical ability the role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will work closely with colleagues in the field, property owners, insurers and loss adjusters. An important aspect of this job is preparing accurate, well written reports that can understood by the lay person and stand up to technical scrutiny.

Training and support will be provided, you will have full IT backup and be coached in using their in-house project delivery software. Whilst the position can be home based you have the option to work out of the North West head office.
