Overview

A career for a civil engineer, structural engineer or building surveyor in the buoyant insurance sector with a leading industry player. The position is predominantly home based with site visits accounting for around thirty percent of the working week.

This is an international loss adjusting practice with extensive expertise in the building and civil engineering sectors, a network of UK offices and an excellent reputation. You will join a nationwide team drawn from the civil, structural, and building surveying professions covering work in Edinburgh and surrounding regions. Working from home is long established within the business, their IT systems and IT support is highly evolved and efficient.

Duties: You will inspect damage to buildings, carry out defect diagnosis with particular focus on subsidence related issues, establish the extent and cost of repairs and advise on reinstatement measures and  repair schedules through to conclusion of the repairs, ensuring the delivery of a quality service and workmanship from contractors. Work alongside insurers and brokers to help manage the expectations of clients and stakeholders throughout the claims process. Work as part of a team and provide technical advice, support and input on commercial and technical issues effecting the business.

Your Profile: A track record of assessing and advising on existing structures with evidence of having taken responsibility for your own workload. A degree qualified engineer or surveyor, ideally chartered or working towards incorporation or chartership with the ICE, CIOB or RICS.  Knowledge of structural defects affecting buildings and their repairs and the ability to distinguish between subsidence and non-subsidence damage of buildings and structures.
