The Company: A leading international forensic investigations consultancy, highly regarded for their built environment expertise, their civil and structural engineers investigate and determine the root cause of civil engineering and structural failures within the buildings, highways, rail, development infrastructure, industrial and energy sectors. Their findings are regularly used to settle litigation cases and as a catalyst to improve existing design and construction methods. Your Role: You will be investigating the cause and origin of structural related defects through to catastrophic failures, your findings will be used to resolve legal disputes, claims and to improve standards in the UK and internationally. During initial site investigations you will typically oversee field testing, gather photographic evidence and interview witnesses. This information will enable you to unravel the root cause of failure. You will then prepare a report that provides a clear explanation of your findings. This needs to be expressed in a way that can be understood by those from a non-technical background, whilst being robust enough to pass scrutiny should litigation arise. Your assignments will be aligned to your technical expertise with the support of civil, structural, geotechnical and materials colleagues.
Your Profile: A chartered civil or structural engineer – or approaching chartered status – with a strong academic background. You should have consulting engineering experience focused on building structures or civil engineering structures with a strong technical emphasis. Naturally inquisitive with the ability to apply lateral thinking and deductive reasoning skills to resolve complex engineering problems. A good communicator capable of preparing well written reports and clearly articulating engineering concepts.
Training & Progression: Support will be provided to enable you to apply your specialist technical expertise from a forensic investigation perspective. You will learn how to carry out investigations and present your findings. Growth and consistent demand for their services provides plenty of scope for career progression to director level, you will have the opportunity to benefit from additional training to become an expert witness.
Additional Remuneration: In addition to the base salary their profit share scheme offers significant additional income. This is an upper quartile salary and benefits package.
