Overview

An opportunity for a chartered or incorporated civil engineer (or equivalent) to work for a major client organisation. Our client owns and manages a substantial and expanding estate with extensive infrastructure that includes roads, pavements, drainage, buildings and specialist logistics facilities. You will report to the head of engineering and be supported by a team of inspectors and technicians. Your role will involve the management of new multi-million pound schemes and supervision of principal inspections of building and civil structures and development infrastructure.

Duties will include the preparation of contract documentation and specifications, liaison with external consultants and management of appointed contractors. Smaller projects will often be designed in-house. Other important duties include acting as client’s representative, CDM co-ordination and identifying potential health and safety risks. A varied workload will include specialist capital projects as well as planned and reactive maintenance schemes. Your background should include site experience and project delivery and have provided you with an understanding of civil engineering design.

This stable and well managed organisation is less vulnerable to the economic cycles that effect most of the civil engineering and construction industry. In addition to your base salary there is a generous pension contribution, bonus and healthcare.
