Their engineers are drawn predominantly from the consulting engineering sectors and possess enquiring minds, lateral think skills and strong technical expertise. They have a new opportunity for a civil engineer who has worked on heavy civil structures, such as bridges, tunnels, underground structures, water retaining structures and industrial buildings. You will work closely with client representatives, predominantly insurers, adjusters, claims handlers and legal practices. Your work will cover cause and origin investigations, design failure investigations and the preparation of reports for litigation purposes. In some instances, you will be asked to provide advice on what remedial measures can be taken. You will work alongside an associate as you gain the experience required to apply your skills in this new career. There is plenty of scope for career advancement up to partner level, the financial rewards in this consistent and profitable business are excellent.

You will need a strong academic background, a 2:1 in civil or structural engineering and be a chartered civil (MICE) or chartered structural (MIStructE) engineer. A talented engineer on the cusp of chartership would be of much interest too. A high standard of written English is essential, your reports will need to be understood by those with a non-technical background and be robust enough to withstand technical and sometimes legal scrutiny.
