Overview

Our client is a long established, independently owned civil and structural consultancy with several regional offices. Their success has been built upon delivering a high level of structural engineering expertise with close attention to client care. They are a consistently profitable, well managed and progressive consultancy and widely regarded as an excellent employer. Staff turnover is low. They remain staunchly independent and able to attract and retain prestige clients. Their projects are typically valued between £5m–£30m in the education, residential, conservation, healthcare and commercial sectors.

They are looking for an engineer capable of detail design and design delivery who will work closely with clients. You will report to the structures director, and work alongside an established and capable team of engineers and technicians. A wide range of projects will mean working on steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures. There will be regular site visits, and as you become settled in the role, you will work more closely with long standing, key clients.

You should be a degreequalified or HND qualified engineer, and have ambitions to become chartered or incorporated, with the ICE or IStructE. They run an ICE‑approved training scheme and provide training to prepare for IStructE part 3 exams. Succession planning and gradual expansion provide excellent conditions for career progression. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential for your collaboration with architects, developers and external stakeholders.
