Overview

Our client, a leading European insurer, is seeking a chartered civil engineer with strong technical and site-based experience to support the assessment of complex construction risks.

The role is based in Singapore, where the team oversees a portfolio of around fifty active projects, and their workload is steadily growing. These include conventional and renewable energy developments, major infrastructure, industrial facilities, and commercial buildings across South East Asia.

Your Role: You will work alongside underwriters, providing practical insight into construction methods, project challenges, and risk management. Site visits are a key part of the role, typically one or two per month, focused on reviewing progress and identifying areas for improvement. The working environment is well-resourced and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on shared expertise and professional integrity.

Responsibilities: Conducting technical reviews and advising underwriters in Singapore and other international offices. You will also provide input on claims and loss adjuster reports, helping to identify mitigation opportunities and lessons learned. In addition, you’ll support new and renewal business through technical insight and project knowledge.

Profile Required: The ideal candidate will be a chartered civil engineer and a citizen of Singapore with a background in consultancy or contracting. You should have experience in heavy civil or industrial projects. Previous roles may include senior engineer, site manager, or project manager, with direct site experience and technical depth. Strong communication skills are essential, particularly the ability to explain complex issues clearly to non-technical colleagues and clients.
