Overview

A chartered civil engineer with geotechnical and civil engineering experience is required by a leading forensic engineering practice. This is an opportunity to apply your existing expertise in a well rewarded profession offering variety, flexibility and progression. It is sector with consistent and stable work throughout the construction industry’s economic cycles. They have a well established civil and structural capability and a growing workload with most of the UK’s leading loss adjusters.

You will be investigating and establishing the cause of failures effecting roads, tunnels, bridges, ports & harbours, drainage systems, stadia, buildings, industrial facilities and railways. This work frequently relates to geotechnical issues around soil behaviour, piling, basement construction, tunnels, retaining walls, ground movement, earthworks, embankments ground anchors etc. Experience in geotechnical / foundation engineering with exposure to civil and structural engineering in general would provide the technical range to thrive in this industry. Broad experience is highly valued.

You will need to be a chartered civil engineer with four, or more years consulting engineering experience and strong communication skills. There will be regular contact with clients, third parties and site visits. Training will be provided in how to conduct your investigations and present your findings. The ability to write reports that are robust enough to withstand legal /peer group scrutiny, and be understood by non-technical professionals is an art you will need to master. Good report writing skills are a pre-requisite.
