An opportunity to gain better project exposure and training is on offer with a highly regarded structural engineering consultancy. This position will suit an engineer aiming to transition to a project engineering role, gain chartership and move upwards. Their building structures capability has won much recognition, you will play a key role in delivering technically challenging, national and international projects typically valued between £5m and £30m. Their project workload covers the education, commercial, residential, healthcare, manufacturing, and arts sectors.

The Company: A long established Limited Liability Partnership employing over one hundred engineers and technicians. Building structures is their core business supported by additional civil and geotechnical disciplines. The practice is noted for its engineering expertise with a balanced workload spanning innovative cutting edge projects and high quality mainstream work. Staff retention is amongst the highest in the sector, largely owing to the excellent working environment, project exposure, training, career progression, support and terms of employment. They remain a staunchly independent practice with much emphasis on staff inclusion.

Your duties: Working in a team headed by a partner you will be involved in projects from concept through to design and delivery. There will be regular site visits and liaison with architects, clients and other engineering disciplines. Projects will predominantly be steel and reinforced concrete, you can also expect to encounter masonry, timber and more exotic materials and composites.

Training: There is an MIStructE and ICE approved training scheme. Their engineers achieve very high pass rates aided by mentorship, support and the right type of project experience. Training is on-going with regular CPD activities and a culture that promotes learning. You will be encouraged to pursue chartership and be expected to take advantage of the assistance provided.

About you: A degree qualified civil or structural engineer with two or more years building structures design experience. A working knowledge of Auto CAD and familiar with industry standard design software, you will be expected to become conversant in Master Series and SCIA. Good interpersonal skills and a strong interest in structural engineering and architecture. The desire to learn and progress is essential.
