Overview
An opportunity to join a long established property & engineering consultancy. This is a position for a building structures engineer with a design background that includes some site / site survey experience.
The Role: A mix of site survey and structural design and delivery. You will be a member of the company’s structural design team and provide structural engineering support to their building surveying division. Your site surveying duties will be focused on projects predominantly in London and occasionally in the wider South East area, this will typically require a one to two day input per week. Reporting to the structures associate your design role will involve detailed design and delivery of schemes that will typically include large scale residential, healthcare and education projects. There will be regular liaison with clients and architects and you will be expected to deliver your own work packages and provide guidance to junior engineers.
The Company: This is a well managed multi-discipline consultancy with prestigious clients in robust sectors of the economy. They have decades of experience providing design, project management and surveying services. Their structural division has a high level of technical expertise and the flexibility to provide a range of services. In addition to work on major new projects, they provide structural assessments for change of use, structural repairs, structural surveys and assessments, forensic engineering and party wall assessments.
About You: An experienced building structures engineer with detail design and design delivery experience. Fully conversant in steel and reinforced concrete design and some exposure to masonry and timber. Chartered or nearing chartered status with the ICE or IStructE (or similar body) and capable of taking responsibility for his/ her own workload. Experience of carrying out site survey work. Good interpersonal and organisational skills. Holder of a valid UK driving licence.
