Overview

An in-house structural engineer is required by our client, a prestigious client organisation. They maintain and develop a substantial estate with a multi-million-pound annual turnover. You will play a leading role in delivering new developments, improvement schemes and the maintenance of existing assets. Their site is spread over a large area, it includes RC, steel and masonry buildings with extensive road, bridge and drainage infrastructure.  As a key member of their engineering team there will be support from a team of inspectors and co-ordination with M&E disciplines.

Duties: With the support of the head of civil & structural engineering you will be involved in the front end design of buildings and civil structures within your area of technical expertise. Plus the specification and management of external consultants carrying out larger scale projects and designs where specialist technical input is required. Management of the estates’ inspection scheme and assisting in the development of asset maintenance strategies. Providing support and guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and inspection team.

About You: A chartered civil or structural engineer or nearing chartered status. A design background focused on either buildings, bridges, infrastructure, industrial projects or similar. Experience of carrying out feasibility studies, structural surveys/ appraisals and the preparation of specifications. Project engineering/delivery experience. Knowledge of  CDM regulations and European/ UK  design standards. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to forge constructive working relationships with contractors and consultants and a range of in-house colleagues. There will be regular site visits throughout the site, a current valid UK driving licence is essential.
