Our client is a well established forensic consultancy based in the City of London. They undertake forensic examination for litigation and insurance purposes, undertaking investigations on fires and explosions on anything from domestic appliances, through to plant and electrical installation works in the commercial, industrial and public sector.

They are seeking a chartered electrical engineer who is efficient at written reports of findings that are likely to be submitted as evidence. You may also be responsible for some project management and the management of several projects. In addition, you will be able to evaluate and review design and installation, ensuring high quality and compliance to client design specifications.

This position is home based and may well suit an experienced chartered electrical engineer who is looking for semi-retirement or perhaps is self employed, flexible, and looking for additional projects for between one and two days a week.

The key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Forensic investigations, studying the cause of electrical defects and/or damage.
  • Discover the source and cause of fires or explosions
  • Writing forensic reports of findings detailing the cause of electrical defects in accordance with Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR 35)
  • Operating electrical testing equipment
  • Develop good client relationships.
