Overview

A structural engineer who is ready to take on a more senior role is required by this award-winning independent consultancy. Their building structures capability has won much recognition, working here will enable you to work on technically challenging, national and international projects valued up to £150m. Their project workload covers the education, commercial, healthcare, manufacturing and arts sectors.

Applying your design expertise and knowledge of the design and construction process you will take responsibility for project delivery. With the support of your line manager, a structures director, you will be involved in scheme design, fee negotiation, design programming , management of graduate engineers and technicians and production of BIM models. There will be regular site and client visits, design team meeting and co-ordination with your civil engineering colleagues.

You should be an experienced building structures engineer with good organisational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of reinforced concrete and steel design and European design codes is essential. In addition to your technical background, creative flair and lateral thinking skills are required. Some commissions will require novel engineering solutions and some inspired thinking. If you are not already chartered, ICE and IStructE training and support is available. You should be a graduate member of one of these institutions and be on your way to becoming chartered.
