This is an opportunity for a senior level construction profession or engineering manager with civil and structural expertise to apply his/her knowledge within the buoyant and diverse construction loss adjusting sector.

Our client, a British owned business with a global presence is expanding their loss adjusting operations in the UAE. Their workload focuses on large scale building and civil engineering schemes covering the commercial office, transportation infrastructure and industrial sectors. The position calls for a mix of technical, interpersonal and communication skills. You will report to the senior partner heading up the business unit in UAE.

The Role: You will be determining the cause of failures and evaluate their impact on buildings and civil engineering works throughout the UAE. Your clients will be the representatives of construction professionals and design & construct contactors. The role will involve the site survey and forensic examination of building/ civil engineering structures, a written report on your findings will establish the cause of failures and who is liable and provide the basis of achieving a fair insurance settlement. These will be high value schemes such as high-rise offices, ports & airports, tunnels, dams, power stations and bridges. Specialist outsourced forensic engineering services may be used from time to time. You will become skilled at negotiating settlements between the insured and the insurer and at applying your engineering and construction expertise effectively to the task.

Your profile: They are looking for a civil/structural engineer or construction/project manager who has worked within contracting or consulting engineering. You should be a chartered civil engineer, or equivalent. A broad background is helpful, ideally covering civil and building projects, this should have given you first hand experience of the whole design and construction process. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to clearly explain complex engineering and construction problems to lay people. A high standard of written and verbal communication is essential to ensure your work is clear and stands up to scrutiny. They are scaling up their construction loss adjusting division, commercial acumen and ambition is required.
