Overview

Our client is a long established, independently owned civil and structural consultancy with several regional offices. Their success has been built upon delivering a high level of structural engineering expertise with close attention to client care. They are a consistently profitable, well managed and progressive consultancy and widely regarded as an excellent employer. Staff turnover is low. They remain staunchly independent and able to attract and retain prestige clients. Their London office is handling projects typically valued between £5m – £30m in the education, residential, conservation, healthcare and commercial sectors.

They are looking for an engineer capable of scheme design and design delivery to work closely with their clients. You will report to the London based structures director, supported by an established and capable team of engineers and technicians. You will be involved in feasibility, preliminary design, sequencing, contract preparation and design checking. The wide range of projects will mean working on steel, concrete, masonry and timber building structures. There will be regular site visits and as you become settled in the role you will work very closely with long standing, key clients.

You should be a degree or HND qualified engineer, and either chartered or incorporated, with the ICE or IStructE, or working towards chartership. They run an ICE approved training scheme and provide training to prepare for IStructE part 3 exams. Succession planning and gradual expansion provides excellent conditions for career progression .Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential for your collaboration with architects, developers and external stakeholders. Equally important is the ability to fit in to an organisation that has a friendly and supportive approach. You will supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
