Overview

An opportunity for a building structures engineer with design, delivery and commercial acumen. This national UK owned multi-discipline consultancy works on major schemes in the private sector and public realm. Projects include corporate headquarters, urban-regeneration, manufacturing facilities and technology campuses, hospitals and airports. The work will centre on Scottish developments with additional national and international projects.

With the support of the senior management team your role will take in client advisory stages, conceptual design and project delivery. On a day to day level you will be managing a team of engineers and technicians involved detail design production, allocating resources, checking their work and providing mentorship and technical leadership along the way. Your commercial and management function will include preparing fee proposals and providing input on major bids. Their will be regular client contact and close working with the senior management team on business development and strategic issues.

Your background should be within building structures design and you will need to be a chartered member of the Institution of structural engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers. You will have worked at project engineer level or above and have developed a sound understanding of structural design principles that must include steel and concrete. In addition to your technical background good interpersonal and leadership skills are essential. You will be working with a wide range of people from fresh graduates to senior internal and external client executives. These skills should be supported by the ability to plan and organise your work and to take initiatives to improve your team’s performance and wellbeing. This is a role providing a move into management that will provide much opportunity for further career progression.
