Overview

An opportunity with an internationally acclaimed civil engineering consultancy with long term work on some of the World’s most high-profile civil engineering projects. This is an immediate requirement for a senior civil or geotechnical engineer with experience of underground structures who is chartered or approaching chartered status.

You will commence work on a section of HS2 as part of a team designing 15km of twin bore tunnels each of 9 meters in diameter, plus 39 cross passages and five deep shafts. In addition, they have large scale tunnelling projects with significant design inputs in Singapore, India and in the UK for Network Rail that will require your expertise. Reporting to the technical director you will be involved in the delivery of detail design and the supervision of junior engineers and technicians. There will be regular design team meetings and you will liaise closely with clients and external stakeholders. The company is well established their expertise in major transportation infrastructure means they are positioned to work on much of the upcoming road and rail projects planned for the UK, in addition to a healthy volume of international work.

About you, you should be a degree qualified civil, structural or geotechnical engineer and ideally be chartered or approaching chartered status with the institution of civil engineers (your line manager is an ICE accredited supervising civil engineer). Experience of below ground structures or tunnelling is essential. Good communication skills will be invaluable as is the ability to guide and co-ordinate staff under your supervision. You should be conversant in industry standard design software and if necessary, you will need to become familiar with Oasys and Midas.
